Bath
The grand and historic city of Bath marks the end (or beginning) of the journey along the Cotswold Way. As different as possible from the rural setting of Chipping Campden, Bath is a thriving and bustling city with much to offer the curious traveller.
The city's architecture is famed, with many Georgian terraces remaining outwardly unchanged since they were built. These provide Bath with its unique atmosphere.
A visit to the roman baths from which the city takes its name is a must. The spring still provides hot water to the baths and a great deal of the original architecture has been preserved along with numerable artefacts in the adjoining museum. For those wanting to emulate the roman's example and enjoy the healing waters of a spa, the Thermae Spa provides the modern version of the original concept, with the naturally heated water spas and the latest in treatments and facilities.
The city has a wide range of museums including the American Museum, the Jane Austin Centre, the Herschel Museum of Astronomy and many more.
Modern day Bath is an exciting centre for the arts with a regular schedule of events and festivals throughout the year. At any time you will find something of interest to see at the cinemas or to watch at the theatre. The city has an unrivalled selection of galleries as well as the Museum of East Asian Art and the Holburn Museum of Art.
In a city this size, you will have no trouble finding accommodation and you will be spoiled for choice when it comes to eating out. Given all that there is to see and do (and the fact that you have probably earned a rest) you may well be tempted to stay for a couple of days.
