Hawkesbury Upton

Close to this small and unspoilt village is the Somerset Memorial, an imposing tower built in memory of the Duke of Somerset. This distinctive tower is one of the landmarks strongly associated with the Cotswold Way. Hawkesbury Upton itself contains a small shop for supplies and refreshments. The route near to Hawkesbury has recently been improved to avoid a steep section of road.

The section of the Cotswold Way between Wotton and Hawkesbury is particularly leafy with deep lush, coombes carved out of the limestone escarpment by streams and rivers. This is a popular area for riders with several riding stables to be found in the area.
